If that ain't enough for you, step across the street to the Archer Ale House later that same afternoon and hear us again!

Tomorrow we will be down in Fairhaven at the Village Green Park behind Village Books playing before the outdoor movie. The movie is going to be The Pursuit of Happyness. We haven't seen it. None of us. And we probably won't see it tomorrow night, but we're going to play, and you should come down and hear us live, support the community, and check out Will Smith, maybe he'll be there too, the real Will. We will. More info --> Shows.
  19 July 2007
This Saturday, 21 July, we are playing a benefit concert and contra barn dance for Animals As Natural Therapy (ANT). ANT is a program based on the knowledge that animals can teach important life skills: respect for self and others, trust-building, and clear communication. For eight years Animals as Natural Therapy has been working with youth and adults, many of the youth considered "at risk" by social service agencies. ANT strengthens our community by developing healthy, resilient individuals through animal-assisted education and personal growth. It is a fantastic cause worth coming out for, and should be a real good time for all. The Saturday festivities will be an Open House, Salmon Bake, and Barn Dance! There will be a contra dance caller. You can walk around and pet the pigmy goats and horses, fill up on Pacific Northwest Salmon, fill up on pop, and take in some County Summer sun.

Next Saturday, 28 July, we will be playing the Haynie Opry up in Blaine. This is a real live opry show, with four bands as well as Matt Audette's Circle of Friends house band. We will be playing a supercharged live set, as well as recording for broadcast on the radio.

  21 June 2007
Tomorrow we will be sharing the stage in the Boundary Bay Beer Garden with the Starlings, coming up from Seattle. Check us, check the Starlings, check the Boundary Bay beer garden. It is bound to be a fine, fine show.

This coming Wednesday, we will be up at Western Washington University playing for the noon concert series. Sun, food, fun, live music, all set in an academic setting bound to learn you a thing or two. There is a lot going on with Quickdraw folks. Check the shows page for the know. Oh, and Happy Summer Solstice!

  25 May 2007
Hamsterdam! Quickdraw plays Hamsterdam tomorrow, only one of the bands playing from 2-9pm. It is going to be a beautiful day, so come out for live music, or come out for some beer or lemonade, or come out just because it is better being out than in. Hamsterdam is a growing event in Bellingham, and next year the organizers hope to bring it out of the backyard and into downtown. Help them with your support.

And later tomorrow, like at about 7:30, we will also grace the Archer Ale House to play our weekly set, or rather, they will grace us with some of that delicious food and fine ales on tap. See you there!

  27 April 2007
We are playing tomorrow at 4pm and Sunday at 1pm down at the Village Green Park, behind Village Books in Fairhaven for the Annual Dirty Dan Days Festival. There will be a lot of fun had here folks: Antiques displays, rowing and kayaking on the waterfront, tasty chowder cook-off, charter sailing yacht tours, vintage car parade and show, sea shanty singers, piano races, and of course, Quickdraw to delight you musically. You must catch this one.

Also, Sunday 29 April, after our 1pm Dirty Dan show, we will thirstily walk over to the Archer Ale House to play our weekly set. Starts at 7:30.

  17 February 2007
We are playing tomorrow and every Sunday throughout the coming spring at the Archer Ale House in Fairhaven. The shows are from 7:30-9pm and there is no cover. Please come down for a Sunday evening beer, dinner, and listen. The Archer is an incredibly quaint basement pub in the heart of Old Fairhaven. See the Shows page for more information.

March 2 we will once again be opening up for the Cody Rivers Show at the Idiom Theater in downtown Bellingham. The Cody Rivers Show is remarkably fun and entertaining, well worth the $10. If you don't catch them on Friday 2 March, when we open, please catch them at one of their other performances. There is a link to their page on our Shows page.

  17 December 2006
Catch us today at the Allied Arts Holiday Market at 10am and Mount Bakery at 11am, both in downtown Bellingham. Our once Bellingham-local fiddler Allegra Ziffle will be here to help us revel in some of that bygone old-timey sound of ours. Come and listen! Shop! Eat! Support local business and music...

A needed apology here given for the empty months of a newsless news page. It is not that we had no news to give, but that our webmaster, lost the file transfer connection. No updates could be made to any of our pages, so apologies. Happily, we have returned..

We aim to wish our friends, family, fans, acquaintances and all a happy winter holiday. Keep smiling and enjoying life through art and music. It makes all the difference in this world.

  8 June 2006
Tomorrow from 5-7pm, Quickdraw is playing Happy Hour down at Kendrick's Pool Hall in Bellingham. Kendrick's is now serving beer and wine, they've also got some mean paninis, salads, and smoothies, as well as a nice little chunk of sidewalk real estate to sit and consume these fine bevs and vittles. Anybody out there with any claim on sanity would be tempted by this.

We'll also be playing next Thursday night, 15 June, at the Acoustic Tavern. The Acoustic Tavern is one of our favorite spots in Bellingham to play. It is cozy, dog friendly, people friendly, and the wait staff (aka James) is real nice. Come down and support your local Acoustic Tavern, and your local Quickdraw boys. We'll start around 9pm, and the cost will be free, or real real close to being free. Check the shows page for an address if you don't know where to go.

  1 March 2006
Welcome to March, the month where all things begin to bloom! We will again grace the stage at the Acoustic Tavern tomorrow night, and begin our own process of blooming, to shake off the cold, and give a hearty welcome to warmer weather. Come out and lend an ear, come out and have a beer.
  8 February 2006
Tomorrow night Quickdraw will be at Bellingham's Green Frog Cafe Acoustic Tavern. The venue is cozy, which is something we here at Quickdraw Inc advocate: cozy venues for a better musical experience. Come out for beer, come out for wine, come out for Quickdraw. As always, check the shows page for address and info. Hey, it's free!
  19 January 2006

  6 September 2005
The new Quickdraw CD, Blasting Caps, is finally here! It is a thing of beauty. We recorded it live the first two days in June, and the packaging was hand pressed, one by one, by Bison Letterpress in Bellingham on a turn-of-the-century printing press. We couldn't be happier. The packaging is a thing of beauty, and the sound on the album is as live as can be. You won't be disappointed folks. The CD is complete, and we are ready for our CD Release party this Saturday, 10 September, in Bellingham at Boundary Bay Brewery's beer garden! For those of you in the Bellingham, Washington area, come out and enjoy some outdoor music while the weather is still permitting. For those of you in different states and cities that can't make it, you can listen to sample tracks from the record and purchase it if you are so inclined at the CD Baby marketplace, here. Check the Albums page for further information and updates about the new Quickdraw CD.

Also, this Friday, 9 September, we will be playing at the Wild Buffalo in Bellingham to benefit NW Youth Services. We will be gracing the stage along with Feed and Seed, Gus & Kati and the Mighty Ghosts of Heaven, and Paedar MacMahon's 8-Hand Reel. The show is Free, but donations to NW Youth Services will be strongly encouraged.

  13 July 2005
A lot is happening right now on the Quickdraw front, besides the pending release of our debut album, Blasting Caps, we also have some really good shows coming up:

This Saturday, 16 July, we are playing a benefit concert barn dance for Animals As Natural Therapy (ANT). ANT is a program based on the knowledge that animals can teach important life skills: respect for self and others, trust-building, and clear communication. For six years Animals as Natural Therapy has been working with youth and adults, many of the youth considered "at risk" by social service agencies. ANT strengthens our community by developing healthy, resilient individuals through animal-assisted education and personal growth. It is a fantastic cause worth coming out for, and should be a real good time for all. The Saturday festivities will be an Open House, Salmon Bake, and Barn Dance! You can walk around and pet the pigmy goats and horses, fill up on Pacific Northwest Salmon, fill up on pop, and take in some County Summer sun.

The following Friday, 22 July, you can catch us at the Nightlight Lounge, where we will be opening for Foghorn String Band. Foghorn is at the forefront of the Pacific Northwest Old-Time scene. There is a great quote from Molly Tenenbaum of The Old Time Herald on Foghorn’s website that sums up the live Foghorn experience well: “The Foghorn Stringband, if you ask me, is one of the greatest new things in old-time music. All they have to do is play, and the power surges straight through your own chest. they are supertight, are major monster players, and they don't do anything weird to the music -- they let their own musicality and the tunes speak for themselves.” This should be a show to remember folks. We here at Quickdraw are very excited to warm up the Nightlight for Foghorn’s first Bellingham show. The price is a measly seven bones.

Also in July, we will be at the Bay Street Coffeeehouse in Bellingham on 28 July, and the Fairhaven Village Green Outdoor Movie on Saturday, 30 July warming up the kiddies for Shrek 2. Get out there and dig in for that Pacific Northwest summer now, the sun won’t stay but a couple months.

  4 July 2005
Welcome to our new domain! With the pending release of our debut full-length CD, Blasting Caps, we have decided to undergo a name change to Quickdraw String Band. But fret not, you can still call us Quickdraw and people will still know who you are talking about. With the change in name, comes a change in our web domain, so be sure to update those bookmarks and pop in for a visit occasionally.

Come out to Elizabeth Park in Bellingham this Thursday where we will play from 6-8pm. The sun is promising to show up, providing you do, so we are counting on you for a fantastic sunny concert in the park experience. Last year was a blast, about 800 people showed, the sun was shining bright, and learning from our lesson, we promise to place the speakers outside of the gazebo this year so we can project our sound just a little bit further for those of you propped up in lawn chairs way in the back.

There are a few new shows on the calendar, so check that. Happy Independence day to all you in these United States of America!

  23 June 2005
Come out tomorrow day and night for two Quickdraw shows! Tomorrow day, between 3-6pm, we will be playing at the St. Francis Retirement facility for their Strawberry Festival, featuring shortcake, door prizes, and plenty of Northwest summer sun. Check the shows page for details. And tomorrow evening, from 8-10pm, we will be playing at the Bay St. Coffeehouse in Bellingham. Both shows are free, and worth much more that that.

The Quickdraw CD is mixed and will go in for mastering next week. We laid it down live, over two glorious evenings, July 1 and 2, at the Yurtship in Bow, Washington. We are pleased with the sound and will be updating the website with more information as the project progresses. Estimated release date is 10 August!

  7 May 2005
Tomorrow morning bring your momma out to hear Quickdraw at the ever-fresh Mount Bakery Cafe on Champion Street in Bellingham. The Mount Bakery has the best selection of Belgian pastries and chocolates this side of the Cascades, all made with organic ingredients, and the owner, Oliver, can concoct some of the tastiest meals morning, noon, or night. Come for the music, come for the food, come for your Mother!

Saturday, 14 May, Quickdraw is heading up to Glacier and into Glacier Recording Studios to cut a CD! Long awaited but never overdue, Quickdraw has been tightening up these tunes for two years now, and we are expecting to put it all down on disc for y'all to listen to in the comfy confines of your own rocking chairs and automobiles. Stay tuned as the project progresses..

  19 April 2005
Tomorrow night Quickdraw will be playing at R.Meme's anniversary/new business launch party with Bellingham's newest hottest bluegrass band, Feed And Seed, as well as Glacier Washington's very own Bent Grass. The new business launch portion of the party is celebrating the launch of Radio Memeworks, a WebRadio station. To celebrate the WebRadio launch, the party concert will be broadcast live over the internet! Tune in with your web browser here between 6 and 9pm tomorrow night, April 20. Congratulations to R.Meme for taking this on. The station will play a lot of local Pacific Northwest musicians, as well as a very eclectic repertoire of Acoustic/Americana/Bluegrass/Folk/Old Time/Jamband/Reggae/Funk/Soul/Ambient/downtempo/chill/stoner techno/Jazz. Safe to say there is something for everyone. So tune in tomorrow night, and keep posted with what RadioMemeworks is up to at their website RadioMemeworks.com/.

Oh, and remember to come out for Quickdraw's last Monday night of April at the Boundary Bay Brewery in Bellingham this coming MOnday 4-25!. Happy Spring!

  26 March 2005
Quickdraw is scheduled for a busy month of April. The first Saturday of April, you can catch them out on the charming Lummi Island at the Taproot Pub and Espresso, Willows Inn. Lummi Island is just West of Bellingham, and is only a five minute ferry ride. C'mon out! it is a fantastically quaint way to spend an evening, and Quickdraw will be embellishing the atmosphere with their own compilation of Old Timey, Country Blues, Folk Songs, Celtic, and Ragtime material. If you're busy on Saturday, Quickdraw will be at the Boundary Bay Brewery every Monday in April, as well as playing with Feed and Seed and Bent Grass at R.Meme's anniversary Party on 20 April. Come out, say hello, share a beer, and lend your ears!
  7 February 2005
This Thursday Quickdraw is invited to showcase at the Hop Productions Art and Music Show with Soup Of The Day and Kris Orlowski. Hop Productions is a Seattle-based network of musicians and artists that work together for the purpose of furthering art and music in the community. It is a real good thing. You can check out what they are doing anytime at www.hoppro.com. Check out the shows page for all the details about this Thursday.
  29 December 2004
Four days into the new year and Quickdraw is aiming to start it off right as we take the stage "just this side of Damnation," as the 3b web site puts it. Really though, we will be bringing our own special brand of acousticity to Bellingham's home of rock, the 3B tavern. Come on out folks, you've no good reason not to: admission is free, pool is free, and the 3B houses over 20 beers on tap. See our shows page to satisfy any peaking curiosity.
  1 December 2004
We will be making an appearance at the 25th Annual Allied Arts Holiday Festival of the Arts this Sunday at 11am. The Festival is in downtown Bellingham in the Pickford Dream Space, on Bay St., next to the Radio Museum. This is our second year making a showing for the Allied Arts Holiday Festival, and we are aiming to make this year's sets twice the energy as last year's, even if it is at 11am. Hope to see you there, and Happy Holidays!!
  21 November 2004
Brewgrass was a blast! Thank you Anacortes for the energetic hospitality. So much dancing and clapping and enthusiasm can really have an effect on a bands ego, so be careful. Also thanks to the Barbed Wire Cutters for sharing the Wild Buffalo stage with us, we thought it a fantastic match, and hope to share stages in the future with the Cutters. Best of luck to you boys down in Seattle. Well, it appears that the slow season has arrived, as the Shows page is looking pretty empty. Keep an eye out for us at the Old Town Cafe playing for the breakfast crowd on weekends. And there is talk of us starting a recording in January...Stay tuned.
  1 November 2004
This Thursday, Quickdraw will be playing out at Randy's RoadHouse for Randy's birthday party. Who is Randy, you ask? Randy is a local in the Bellingham community who loves two things: supporting local music and playing golf. You can see evidence of this when arriving at the RoadHouse. The frontyard is converted into a putting green, and the back garage converted into a stage for house concerts. This should be a night worth talking about. Gus and Kati with the Mighty Ghosts of Heaven kick off the night with their inspiringly original versions of old folk songs, and the Party Favorites will seal off the night. Unfortunately, the location for the Roadhouse we cannot advertise, we're just butterin' you up hoping that you know where it is already.
  18 October 2004
Quickdraw will be playing at the Boundary Bay Brewery this Friday to benefit the Sean Humphrey House. It is one of only three facilities in the State of Washington providing housing, meals, medical services, and counseling to a rapidly expanding population. Come on out, have a finely crafted Boundary Bay beer, give Quickdraw a listen, and feel good about doing it because your four dollar cover goes to a notable charity. Scot Raney and Korby Lenker will be doing solo sets to kick off the evening. Check our shows page for further info.
  14 October 2004
Hey Folks! We have been asked down to Seattle tomorrow night to play at the Lock and Keel Tavern! We'll be closing out the night there and go on at about 11pm. If you are in the Seattle area, stop in! The cover is only $3, and Clay Bartlett will be opening up the night. See our Shows page for more info.
  3 October 2004
For all those who have never been out to Lummi Island's Beach Store Cafe, you should go out there and visit. Just off the ferry terminal, the Beach Store is the social hub of Lummi Island, and they are a bunch of nice folks. Quickdraw will be paying a show there for our third time on Saturday, 23 October, and the last two were kick-off-your-shoes dance parties. We expect no less this time around. See our Shows page for more details.
  2 October 2004
The details have finally been worked out for the Anacortes Brewgrass event! It all happens on the third week of November and Quickdraw is going to be a part of it. Three bars on Commercial Ave. in Anacortes got together and decided to have a joint event, one ticket = three bars/bands! Stay tuned. Visit our Shows page for more details. We will update the page as November nears.
